One of the endangered animal- Cheetah

Cheetah-Acinonyx jubatus

Cheetah is one of the endangered species around many parts of the world and are harmed by palm oil. Cheetah’s habitat are being destroyed, by palm oil and their population loss caused them to be racing extinction. There were 100,000 cheetahs a century ago, but throughout the years there are fewer than 10,000 cheetahs that have been left in the wild.

We can help the Cheetahs to not become extinct by help raising money, stop buying products that have palm oil in them and we use some of those products in our daily lives for example: soap, shampoo, detergent, diesel, packaged bread, margarine, pizza dough, instant noodles, cookies, ice cream and even chocolate! Can you believe that? The cheetahs and other animals are becoming more less because of what we use for our every day lives.

Endangered Sea turtles

Endangered Sea turtles
Sea turtles have swum in our ocean for million of years ,which was the time of the dinosaurs. Somewhere in the Pacific waters, sea turtles can be spotted easily just below the surface.

Around a few decades ago the number count of sea turtles dropped. At the present time there are only seven species of this reptile. They are harmed and endangered.

Sea turles have always been important to the Pacific people. Traditionally, tools, spears, fishhooks, jewellery, and combs were carved from their shells. Their meat was only eaten by important people on special occasions, they are controlled by the customary laws. Sea turtles  are high prized items used for trading. Sea turtles commonly come into sight in Pacific legends. Pacific people often offered them to their gods, and important in their culture.

Here! are the seven species of sea turtles left today- Kemp’s ridley, flatback, green, oliveridley, loggerhead, hawksbill, and leatherback. The largest turtle is the leatherback that can weigh over 600 kg! It’s the only specie  of turtle without a hard, external shell .Turtles have a hard shell that protects them like a shield. This upper shell is called “carapace”. Turtles also have a lower shell called “plastron”.

Many turtle species are endangered, yet the nature isn’t always kind to them. Many people are illegaly killing sea turtles by- drowning them, and others die because of-fuel, rubbish, plastics, cans, and all sort of litter thrown to the sea.

If turtles became extinct in the future, Pacific people can’t use their traditions, making their tools and all sort of other things.

Green fingers in one hand

“Green fingers in”
one hand

A boy named Tuni who lived in Tonga, discovered an enormous clump of bananas in his friend’s backyard named Ceri. Banana grows in a small `suckers beside the main plant. They need rain, sunshine and warm temperature. They don’t have woody trunks, but they have stalks.

After a week some new leaves grow, they are long bright, green shiny leaves. Tuni noticed a bell-shaped flower bud waxy leaves called “brats”,after a few weeks it turn into a tiny green banana hand. Tuni saw some dark green banana fingers stretching out and turn upwards, and turned to light green. After a few weeks they turned into yellow fingers,Tuni said “It’s ripen” means it’s ready to pick, why?? because ants, bats and rats will eat it.

They took them out,and hung them up in a shady place. Green-banana are furry and starchy, over-ripped bananas are mushy. Which one do you prefer?
